Frenship Middle School Student Competes at Regional Spelling Bee

The 73rd Annual Lubbock Regional Spelling Bee took place on Saturday, March 23 at the Lubbock YWCA. There were 14 students from across the region representing their schools and districts.

After winning the districtwide spelling bee back in February, Harshbarger went into the competition with hours of practice under his belt and earned 2nd place.

“I am so proud of the way that Warren held himself and how he represented not only FMS but the entire district,” said Tim Reese, Assistant Principal at FMS. “He has been working long hours studying and preparing himself for the Bee. The confidence that he has every time he goes to spell a word is impressive. I can’t wait to see how much he will grow for next year’s bee. He really is such a great kid.”

When asked what his favorite part of the Spelling Bee is, Harshbarger said, “The thrill you get in it. The nervousness and excitement when it starts to get down to the last few contestants.”

Congratulations, Warren!
