Frenship Track and Field Dominate the Don Black Invitational

“Winning all four divisions of a meet this size is something all the kids should be very proud of. There were some very talented individuals from all over the area competing this past weekend and our kids were some of those and went head-to-head with some of the best,” said Head Girls Track and Field Coach Stefani Shortes.

Rounding out the track meet, Girls Varsity secured a total of 216 points, 100 points more than the runner-up, Midland Legacy. Girls JV earned 200 points, far surpassing San Angelo Central who came in second with 80. The Boys Varsity team came in first with 129 points after a close race with Lubbock-Cooper at 119 and the Boys racked up 131 points, beating out Lubbock-Cooper at 108.

“We had over 20 varsity girls scoring in this meet, 25 JV kids scoring, and a handful more scoring 15+ points in the meet. Every point matters, and that’s how you win the team championships,” said Shortes.
