Not only did the A-team take the title of Stripes Zone Champs, the 8th grade B-team also had an undefeated season as well. Both teams combined had a perfect 15-0 football season. Boys Athletic Coordinator, Brandon Ferguson, had the chance to watch the daily hard work put in by the athletes.
“These young men put in countless hours and dedication to getting better. The majority of them attended summer strength and conditioning camps all summer and were named top wide receivers by Coach Northcutt and his staff,” said Coach Ferguson. “They came to practice every day with a purpose and kept each other accountable by doing push-ups for dropped passes and challenging one another during drills to get the best from their teammates.”
The athletes, hungry for success, even arranged their own practice to keep the momentum going.
“We even had a couple of kids organize player-led practice on days when there were no school days and teachers were all in staff development. Their maturity blows me away every day,” said Coach Ferguson.
Coach Ferguson is beyond thankful for a team of students who have felt more like family and have impacted his life in various ways.
“These young men are family to me. They have reached out to me and my family in various ways while I deal with family issues,” said Coach Ferguson. “Their success will go far beyond the field. They will all be great members of society, fathers, and husbands. They are already amazing sons!”
Although Frenship Middle School brought home the Stripes Championship, Coach Ferguson gives much praise and credit to the support from the various Tigers from across the District.
“I can't say enough about the support of the district and the leaders we have. Coach Gerlich, Coach Northcutt and ALL of the high school coaches, the middle school coaches from the other campuses, along with our administration and teachers at FMS sent multiple emails of praise and encouragement to our teams before and after the Championship game. WE TRULY ARE ALL TIGERS!”
Congratulations on the great season!
