Frenship Middle School

Author Mari Mancusi Speaks to Frenship Middle School Students

Frenship Middle School sixth graders got to hear from a special guest, thanks to Literacy Lubbock. Author Mari Mancusi was in town for Literacy Lubbock’s Lubbock Book Festival on October 15 and 16, and had the time to visit one school while she was in town. Frenship Middle School had the honor of being selected as the school for her to visit. Mancusi is a former Emmy award-winning TV producer and a current author of more than two dozen sci-fi/fantasy books for kids, teens, and adults.

Over the course of three hours, she spoke with all of the sixth graders at Frenship Middle School. Through the conversation with the students, Mancusi shared about the perseverance you need to make your dreams a reality and went over the behind-the-scenes aspects of writing and publishing.

Students had the chance to ask her questions about her experiences and at the end of the visit, each student got to take home a signed copy of her book, “Dragon Ops”. The students walked away from the visit with more inside information about writing and inspiration from someone who has found success in her field.
