Frenship ISD Middle Schools Compete in Annual UIL Choir Concert

All three Frenship middle schools took their choirs to the annual UIL choir competition, where they received accolades for their hard work.

At the annual UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Choir contest, choirs must compete in two rounds of competition. In the concert portion, each choir prepares three pieces to sing on stage for three judges. The second round is the sight-reading portion of the contest. The choirs must go into a room where they are handed a brand-new piece of music. They have six minutes to work through the music before they must perform it for the judges.

The judges grade based on a 1-5 scale. One being a superior rating and two is an excellent rating.

Heritage Middle School took three choirs to the contest. The Varsity Women’s Choir and Non-Varsity Men’s Choir both received superior rating. The Non-Varsity Women’s Choir received an excellent rating.

The Frenship Middle School Non-Varsity Men’s Choir and the Varsity Women’s Choir received a Sweepstakes trophy, meaning that they received a superior rating from all judges in all areas of the contest. They even received a standing ovation from the judge panel for their Women’s Choir stage performance.

Terra Vista Middle School Varsity Women's and Varsity Men's Choir received superior ratings from all six judges. The Non-Varsity Women's Choir received superior ratings from the stage judges and excellent ratings from the sight-reading judges.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work and stellar representation of our school and district” said Chelsea Armour, Choir Director at Frenship Middle School.
