The Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) is a non-profit organization serving high school and middle level student councils in Texas. Its purposes are to develop leadership abilities in students, promote democracy as a way of life and establish and uphold high standards for local councils.
The student councils at Frenship High School and Frenship Middle School earned The Outstanding Student Council Award and the Sweepstakes Award from TASC for the 2021-2022 school year. The Outstanding Student Council Award is earned through community service projects and a commitment to the state theme for this year, which was mental wellness. To earn the prestigious sweepstakes award councils must receive recognition in each service category: Community Service, Environment and Energy Conservation, School Pride and Patriotism, and Drug, Alcohol, Safety, and Health Awareness (DASH).
Councils must do at least eight projects in each category to be recognized, and then go above and beyond to be recognized as an Outstanding Student Council.
FMS student council aids the community with various projects throughout the year, such as "No Child Left Inside", Tiger Tree holiday gift giving, cleaning up at Patterson Park, volunteering at the South Plains Food Bank and serval more. They organize these projects with the aid of the leadership team; Lauren Fernihough, Reese Kerns, Emie Dawson, Raniah Cisneros, Lyla Herndon, and Gracie Speed
The Frenship High School Student Council has approximately 60 active student council delegates. They work to serve the community in several projects. Including Miracle Pennies for UMC NICU, MDA, the Boys and Girls Club, St Jude's Children's Hospital, they sponsor a stretch of highway where they pick up trash, Lubbock Impact, and more.
The Frenship ISD student councils work to provide a means for student expression, assist in school affairs and activities, encourage student/faculty/community relations, and give students opportunities to gain experience in leadership.
Through the various projects and activities organized throughout the year, the student councils strive to promote citizenship, scholarship, leadership, human relations, and cultural values.
Congratulations Tigers!
