Terra Vista Middle School eighth grade student Carson Lattimore has been wrestling competitively for 7 years. When approached with the opportunity to wrestle other middle school students in Lubbock, Lattimore was excited for a chance to bring home some hardware for Frenship middle school level athletes. He was even more excited to hear he would represent Frenship, as the first middle school student to do so.
Lattimore competed in the 145lbs weight class and went 3-1, including two wins by pin, taking 2nd place in the tournament.
Lattimore said he was honored to wear the Frenship singlet and is looking forward to what high school brings.
"I think all students should push themselves when things seem hard because that is when you really learn about yourself and what you are capable of," Lattimore said.
Heritage Middle School sixth grader Jackson Laughlin also wrestled in the tournament taking 2nd place in his bracket. Jackson is a first year wrestler and represented both Heritage Middle School and Frenship very well this past weekend. He has two older siblings that play sports at the high school level.
